nomzod (9 out of 10 ) I can think of few, if any, forgotten movies more deserving of praise and acclaim. This is a FANTASTIC satirical journey into political malfunction, and is still more than poignant today.
harry georgatos (10 out of 10 ) Terry Gilliam has made two masterpieces: "Brazil" and "Twelve Monkeys".
"Brazil" still remains a relevant film amongst todays world politics and inbuilt paranoia of Big Brother and imminent terrorism. This is a much more successful film to it's cousin "V For Vendetta". That film was made by a competent technician. "Brazil" is the work of a genuine filmmaker. The design of the film and cinematography is by a true artist within the medium. "Brazil" is such a deliriously over-the-top of non-stop momentum one has truly become intoxicated by it's craftsmanship.
santouryuu (10 out of 10 ) One of the best movies I've ever seen. Such a fantastic universe. That's what I call a different view. Great work Mr Gilliam. [But after making such a great achievement, how dare you make that catastrophic movie that was Tideland?. I was waiting for another masterpiece. Well, it's just my opinion, I'm not yet anybody. Maybe one day.].
Robb (10 out of 10 ) Brazil is close to a masterpiece. The more I watch it the more I appreciate it. I seem to recall seeing two versions with different endings. The darker version where he was captured remains my favorite as they might have had his body but still had not captured his mind. Some scenes. like the half desk scene or when the crowd of employees are walking along with the boss and they twirl in unison 360 degrees and come to his office door are remarkable, delightful and unforgettable. I spent years in a paper driven petty intense work environment and have always wanted to ask someone if they had a form 27B/6? If you don't like this movie you have no soul!
Matt Bond (9 out of 10 ) Utterly breathtaking and immersive. There are very few films which come close to the world Gilliam and McKeown created, and fewer still that surpass it. Mad dystopian visions of a bizarre and twisted future are offset perfectly by fleeting and elegantly clunky dreams. There are moments of satirical genius, perhaps not unexpectedly; the office table scene and pipework maintenance scenes with De Niro are excellent. The dream sequences are beautiful, gritty and very dark in places, which I really enjoyed. The film is, above all, a true testament to Gilliam's incredible vision and imagination, but also his integrity in the face adversity. I have a lot of respect for his determination. Wonderful film.
Kirby (9 out of 10 ) After recently reading "1984" and "Brave New world", I have to say this is great satire. Even reading the script is making me smile. Unlike the disturbing dystopias and torturous worlds in 1984, the dream scenes are just excellent, depicting a place both beautiful and dark. Even as I read this over 20 years after the film was made, I'm still enjoying it.
